Ghana has signalled its readiness to expand economic cooperation with Chinese investors by opening discussions on concrete investment opportunities in trade, agribusiness and industrial development.
The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, made this known during a meeting with a delegation of Chinese investors led by Hua Yan at the ministry’s offices in Accra.
According to the minister, the engagement builds on outcomes from recent high-level bilateral interactions between Ghana and China, including discussions held at the China-Africa Summit and President John Mahama’s official visit to China. She said the government is keen to translate these diplomatic engagements into practical, results-driven partnerships.
Ofosu-Adjare highlighted Ghana’s economic potential, pointing to the country’s resource base and strategic position as offering strong prospects for collaboration in trade expansion, agribusiness value chains and industrial manufacturing.
She encouraged the visiting investors to identify priority sectors and specific projects of interest, assuring them of the government’s willingness to engage further and provide the necessary support to advance discussions before the conclusion of their visit.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Hua Yan said the investors, drawn from a range of industries, are interested in deepening economic ties with Ghana. She noted that the group is eager to explore practical cooperation that can elevate the partnership to a more advanced and mutually beneficial level.
Both sides expressed optimism that strengthened collaboration would generate long-term economic benefits and contribute to shared development goals.
