About ten villagers were reportedly killed on Tuesday night when terrorists attacked Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, North-Central Nigeria, setting several houses ablaze.
The assaillants were said to have invaded the communities in large numbers, carrying out a violent assault that left families mourning and homes destroyed. They are believed to have emerged from forest camps inside the Borgu National Park in neighbouring Niger State.
The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, confirmed the incident in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, describing the attack as a “cowardly expression of frustration” by terrorists reacting to ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the state.
The governor expressed his condolences to the people of Woro and Nuku, while assuring citizens that security agencies would intensify efforts to restore peace and prevent further attacks.
