Gambia’s Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs, Seedy Keita, will today present a ministerial statement on the implementation and execution of the annual budget for the 2026 fiscal year, according to the Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly.
The planned appearance of Minister Keita is a formal parliamentary procedure and budgetary report titled “Oral Ministerial Statement on the Implementation and Monitoring of the Annual Budget.”
After the statement, members are expected to debate the statement, make observations, and ask questions for the Minister to provide answers on those issues.
Shortly after the engagement with the Finance Minister, the Environment Minister, Rohey John Manjang, is expected to take the podium of the legislative chamber to respond to the Report of the Joint Committee on Environment and Agriculture probing the activities of transhumance in The Gambia.
Next will be the tabling of bills, which will mark the First Reading of the following: the National Security Council (Amendment) Bill, 2026, by His Excellency the Vice President; the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Bill, 2026, by the Minister for Health; while the Intellectual Property Bill, 2025, will proceed to the Second Reading.
The first day of the session will climax with the Second Reading of the Communications Bill, 2025, by the Minister for Communication and Digital Economy, Honourable Lamin Jabbi.
The purpose of the session is to present a Budget Performance Report, allowing the National Assembly to conduct oversight on budget implementation, as mandated by the Standing Orders.
