The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) has dismantled two terrorist bases during coordinated weekend offensives in the Sikasso and Ségou regions.
In a statement, Chief of the General Staff Oumar Diarra confirmed that several militants were killed and logistics equipment destroyed in the separate strikes.
The army said the first assault targeted the Tabakoro area in the Kléla cercle of Sikasso, where troops ambushed a moving armed group following intelligence reports. Several fighters were neutralized and a cache of military equipment recovered.
Another strike was carried out in the Dioura area of Ségou after surveillance units spotted militants travelling on motorcycles. According to the military, the group attempted to hide under vegetation cover but was hit in a surprise attack.
Authorities said more than ten militants were killed, while their logistics equipment was destroyed.
Mali has stepped up military operations in response to expanding jihadist violence in parts of the country.
Reports indicate that the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) reached about 415,000 by the end of 2025, largely due to escalating insecurity in the northern and central regions.
The government is working with national and international partners, including United Nations agencies and humanitarian groups, to deliver multi-sector assistance to displaced populations and vulnerable communities while addressing drivers of fragility such as conflict and climate-related shocks.
