The Ghana government has pledged to cover all medical expenses and provide comprehensive care for survivors of the recent violent attack in Burkina Faso which led to the deaths of 7 nationals.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa made the pledge on Thursday during a visit led by the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong to the 37 Military Hospital where survivors are currently receiving treatment.
The survivors were among a group of Ghanaian tomato traders travelling on a truck which was ambushed by armed assailants. Reports indicate that the attackers lined up the men on board, killed them, and set the vehicle ablaze.
Seven Ghanaians who lost their lives in the attack have already been buried. During the week, the Ghana Armed Forces airlifted survivors of the attack to a medical facility to receive proper medical care and counselling.
The high-ranking army officials, in a statement posted on facebook, assured the survivors of the best medical care, adding that their bills would be absorbed by the government.
