Voting has commenced in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the election of chairmen and councillors who will oversee the administration of the six Area Councils. The Gambia Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA), has slammed a combined fine of D1 million Gambian Dalasi on two energy companies over willful Import of Petroleum Product. The imposition of the hefty penalties on Ultimate Biege (Gambia) Company Limited and Creed Energy Limited was contained in the 2023 annual activity report of the authority. Nigeria has secured a €22 million grant from the European Union to accelerate nationwide fibre-optic deployment under Project BRIDGE. The country also secured a €86 million loan package from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, (EBRD).
