Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of The Gambia, Hon. Seedy S.K. Njie, has been honoured with the Africa Distinguished Young Achiever Award for Excellence in recognition of his exceptional leadership and impact.
The award was presented on Thursday by the President of the All Africa Students’ Union (AASU), Osisiogu Osikenyi E., during a ceremony held at the National Assembly in Banjul.
Hon. Njie received the award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to education, legislative reform, and youth empowerment across the continent.
In his acceptance speech, the Deputy Speaker reaffirmed his commitment to public service and youth development. He thanked the organisers, noting that the institution represents the hopes and aspirations of millions of young Africans.
In his remarks, the AASU President, who is currently on a working visit to The Gambia, applauded the Deputy Speaker’s initiatives aimed at improving access to quality education, eliminating barriers, and strengthening teacher training programmes.
He also extended warm congratulations to the Government and people of The Gambia on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day celebrations.
The African Achievers Awards and the Young African Leaders Summit are premier platforms that recognise innovative Africans aged 16-45 who demonstrate exceptional leadership and impact. The awards honour excellence across sectors including entrepreneurship, policy, and the creative arts, fostering development and inspiring the next generation of leaders.
